21 Days of Quiet

My church is doing a 21 day fast right now, and when I sat down to think about what I actually needed to step away from, social media was the answer before I even finished asking myself the question.

It’s not that social media is bad. It’s that it’s loud, and I have a lot going on right now that needs quiet instead. School just started back up, I’m still in the middle of my own healing, and I want to actually show up — fully, not distracted, not half-present — for the things I’m serving in right now, like dinner church and kids ministry. Somewhere in the scrolling, I lose the ability to hear anything else. Including, honestly, God.

So for 21 days, no social media. Not a dramatic announcement, not a big goodbye post — just quietly stepping back so there’s room for something else to get louder. My own thoughts. Actual conversations. Whatever it is God wants to say to me that I usually talk over with noise.

I started yesterday, September 1st, and I’ll be honest — day one already made me realize how often my hand just goes to my phone out of habit, not actual want. That alone tells me this is probably exactly the reset I needed.

I’m not expecting some big lightning-bolt moment out of this. I’m just hoping that by the end of 21 days I’m a little quieter inside, a little more present with Aria and the people in front of me, and a little more tuned in to what God’s been trying to tell me that I haven’t had the stillness to actually hear.

We’ll see where I land.
