• Kung Fu Red Sash Test Training

Last week I received my red sash test sheet. The red test is known for testing one’s endurance, it requires you to perform almost everything you know thus far, including 30 of each kick, all push-ups, 2 minutes horse stance with bowls, and almost all the forms you know. The test is one of the… Read more

  • Ditka Dash 5K November 30th

A few weeks ago I ran the Ditka Dash 5K at Soldier field with some of my friends. The weather wasn’t too bad (in the 40s) but I have decided that I will wait until next spring/summer to run any more races, too cold for me! Had lots of fun though! 🙂 Read more

  • Another successful 5K completed: Electric Run

Last night a bunch of my co-workers and I participated in the Electric Run. It was so much fun, I completed the 5K in 35 minutes, which wasn’t my best but it wasn’t horrible either. So far, the Terrapin 5K has been my best time for a 5K. There was a dance party after the… Read more

  • Terrapin 5K & Music Festival

Another successful 5K completed! And my time is better than the previous race (glow in the dark run June 1st). My times was 31 minutes, 48 seconds for the entire 3.1 miles. Pace was 10 minutes 16 seconds a mile. This isn’t too shabby for someone like me who rarely runs. Kung Fu has helped… Read more

  • Third Kung Fu Test: Passed

I passed my third Kung Fu test! Of course, I feel like I could have done it better, but I am proud of myself for the following:My 3 minute (plus) horse stance was solid. I am pretty sure Sifu added another 15-20 seconds onto the bowls portion, but I was good. I could have gone… Read more

  • Pull ups: Beginning point

Over the past few weeks I have been trying to work on my pull ups and push ups. Currently, I cannot do a single pull up from the starting point of dangling. I am doing pull-up negatives, where I start with my chin above the bar and then slowly lower myself down. I am also… Read more

  • Salads: the staple of my diet

It’s funny when I think back to when I was a kid, or a teenager, or college student and I thought if I ate a salad I was being super healthy and it meant I could eat garbage and it would “even out.” Ha. It’s funny because now, I crave salads. I love to make… Read more

  • Help my mom beat cancer

Last week my mom started alternative cancer therapy at Total Health Institute with Dr. Keith Nemec. The treatments are all-natural and she has changed her diet to be all-vegetarian with strict requirements to avoid sugar, meat, dairy, and any processed foods. Due to the supplies, such as special enzyme supplements, and the high success rate,… Read more
